Siebel Self Service 8.1.1

Siebel Self Service is one of the first product from Oracle build on the Oracle fusion middleware platform using ADF10g. Siebel Self service is an extension of the Siebel CRM application to web. I am glad that in our present company, we have done the first ever sucessful implementation. Though the journey of the implementation was very challenging, I enjoyed it alot.

Hi Vikram,

I'm working on the implentation of Siebel Self Service. I'm finding it quite challenging and facing quite a number of show stoppers.
I was wondering if you can advice me whats the best way to learn/understand it. I have gone thru the Deployment/Dev guide but they are quite basic.

I'm experienced with ADF10g...so tech is not a problem but i thik my lack of domain knowledge is the problem.
Your advise will be really appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Jotpal,

I feel we can take care of following points while learning or implementing Siebel Self Service:-
1) Understanding basics of CRM like BAN,SAN and CAN acounts, custom object manager etc
2) Understanding of web services,
3) We can utilize tools like SOAP UI to test the working of web services, and NetTools.
4) Major problem occurs when implementing Siebel Self Service is communication between ADF and Siebel CRM. And manjor causes of that are:-
a) LDAP authentication
b) Custom Object manager anonymous user pool size. etc.

Hope this will help

Hi Tushar,

Jdeveloper is not required to install Siebel Self Service in Oracle AS. You can go ahead and deploy the Self Service ear in Oracle AS. Jdeveloper is required to do customizations in the Self service.

Vikram

Hi Raj,

Please check your JDBC connection. And check logs at Siebel end, if it is getting the web service request. Another way to debug it is using Net tools to check in outgoing web service request and incoming web service response. Using Net tools, you web service request/response will tunnel through Net tools to reach Siebel.

Vikram

Hi Raj,

It will be far better and quick to identify issues, if you extract the ear and import the project in Jdeveloper. How to do this is given in the Siebel Self service developer guide in siebel book shelf.

Vikram

Hello,

Which package (or part number) should I download from eDelivery to get the Self-Service EAR file? I can't find it.

Thank you!
